What’s Your Version?
Two years ago, this huge project was launched with my debut novel, Pendwondertive. The first book in my Predictably Unpredictable Tales From The Land of Ardithian children’s fantasy series paired with over 85 original works of art. The experience was something I will never forget and to this day I remained gob smacked. One of the core lessons in my series is the belief that everyone’s creative version of their world is valid and important. It is weaved into the way the children engage, the culture in the world, and the oddities and whimsy that are embraced between the pages of absurdity, wreckage, and triumph.
This November at the incredible Mobile Arts Council venue, book two, The Blue Line Echo launches and I am inviting 12 collaborative artists to join me in celebrating the objects, characters, energy, and quirks of the world. Artists chosen will get access to a digital copy of both books (draft of book 2) and work with me to choose and interpret one of those artifacts to creatively build. Throughout the book there are references to outrageous clothing, jewelry of note, objects that seem unusual, fanciful, and other worldly. From Humadourus the Flying Fish to butter dishes that talk, the potential is grand and I am inviting you to build it with me.
What I’m looking for…
12 artists, two in each category, who has an active practice of building their version of whimsical and mastery of their craft. If chosen, you’ll read the books, we’ll meet and collaborate on an idea that you feel passionately about based on your version of The Land of Ardithian. Works will need to be ready by October 15th, and the show opens November through December 31st. There are guidelines you’ll have to meet, such as having a website and active socials, but I truly am open to collaborating with those I feel get the spirit and excitement of the world…and are willing to help me celebrate it.

You can watch a video on my home page here of a walk through as I share about how this project impacted my life. 85% of this initial show has sold with over 60% being acquired during the first two days of the opening. Hundreds of folks came out to cheer it on and I am looking forward to enticing them with new works but also and added layer of the objects of delight.
Along with my paintings, I’ll have my own artifacts: Trench Coats, Shoes, Jewelry, Sculptures, and a few larger surprises in order. It’s going to be quite grand. I will also be partnering with a local school to showcase the Vimisphere project as well.

FAQ
How many artists are you choosing? 12 Two in each category
Is there a submission cost? No. There is a nominal fee to join the Mobile Arts Council as a member and I will be splitting that with each of you.
Is there a commission rate? Yes. You will split the sale with the Mobile Arts Council at an 80%/20% rate with you receiving 80% I will not be getting a commission from your sales.
How long is the show? 2 months November through the end of December. Your work will need to arrive by October 15th.
Will my work be insured? It is highly recommended that you take out insurance for your work. Mobile Arts Council carries insurance while the work is in their possession. It’s always wise to have your work covered from shipping to arrival to return.
Does Ardith pay for shipping? No. I am taking no commission on the sales so you will need to partner with the Mobile Arts Council to have your shipping details confirmed.
Do I need a website to apply? Yes. I will need your website where I can view your portfolio, links to your socials, and short bio with a head shot.
What does “Receives digital copy of both books mean?” You will receive a link to gain access to both digital versions. Artists selected will receive a signed paperback once the second book has gone to print. You will need to read both books and have an interview process for your idea selection.
Is there anything else I will need to have ready? Yes. You will be responsible for cross promoting the show and confirm that your work is 100% handmade.
