The Always and Dragonfly Ware

$75.00

Woog Ware No. 5

Currently on: Sweet Adelania, Month 8 of 29

This month’s addition: The “Always” tag. Adelania says it’s not a promise. It’s a schedule.

Objects of delight: A blue rhinestone dragonfly, a red “Always” tag, a key with a heart for a handle, a tiny butterfly, a yellow daisy, a tiny portrait of Picasso in a gold ring, and a purple-striped glass bead. Red, black and pink beads hang from gold chain and black cord.

Key Registry: Entered. Locks opened: none. This key has a heart for a handle, which Adelania calls a design flaw.

The supper-club argument: For months, three Necks claimed the tiny portrait was them. It turned out to be Picasso. Two of them still say they see the resemblance.

The dragonfly is the fanciest thing on this Ware, and it arrived with no explanation, which is the Necks’ least favorite kind of arrival. The striped bead earned a nod of approval from Stripaticus, who doesn’t hand those out. The daisy is plastic, which settles the “doesn’t rot” question before anyone can raise it. The butterfly is so small that nobody noticed it until Month 11, and nobody will admit to adding it. Adelania wore all of it for a month, then added a tag that says Always. She won’t say always what. Her official answer is “Always bring soup, Picasso loved soup.”

In the 29 Necks, necklaces change hands every month at supper. This Ware isn’t married to its Woog. Take it home with Adelania, with a different Woog, or on your own neck.
