Cyrilla believes the best things in life are under an inch tall. She once drew all twenty-nine Necks on a single grain-of-rice-sized card, then lost it in the tablecloth. The Necks still check the tablecloth. When the box of broken necklaces was opened, everyone else reached for the big pendants. Cyrilla reached for the smallest clasp in the box and said, “This one’s doing all the work.”
